AEDC Mission
The Ames Economic Development Commission organizes and promotes sound economic growth in Ames and central Iowa by stimulating the expansion of existing industry, attracting new enterprises, and assuring a favorable community climate for new ideas and economic growth.

About the AEDC
Economic development is a process that takes great vision, teamwork, and follow-through by a vast array of community leaders.  The AEDC has proven that it is committed to the economic development of the Ames and Story County area.  The very existence of the AEDC is dedicated to continually provide extraordinary growth opportunities in a fiercely competitive environment that has long eclipsed competing against our neighbors; rather, we are competing in a global arena for new jobs and capital investment.

The AEDC is made up of approximately 100 business and professional people in partnership representing industry, education, and government.  View a directory of current AEDC Investors...

The Ames Economic Development Commission plays a critical role in the community leadership structure.  Partnering with the AEDC are two other separately funded organizations:  Ames Seed Capital LLC and Ames Chamber of Commerce.

The Ames Seed Capital LLC, created by the AEDC, is a pool of private investors that have contributed their financial resources to provide a source of funding for businesses committing to Ames.  This fund has assisted many new start-up companies.

The Ames Chamber of Commerce works to strengthen the long-term economic vitality of its 600+ members and the community.  This is accomplished through a variety of services focusing on exposure, networking, education, and leadership development.  The Ames Chamber of Commerce serves as the umbrella organization for the AEDC and the Ames Main Street Cultural District, providing staff support and other resources.

AEDC volunteers and staff work closely with the Ames Chamber of Commerce, Ames City Council, ISU, ISU Research Park, and the Story County Economic Development Group to promote a unified approach to economic development.
