Posted on November 20, 2019 at 9:00 AM by Allee Wengert

We want YOU to join FUEL Story County! From networking to professional development to progressive dinners and socializing, there are dozens of opportunities to explore through FUEL Story County. Don’t take it from me, take it from FUEL’s Board of Directors who have over twenty years of combined experience with the organization.

On Networking

“Joining FUEL Story County is a great way to meet people for personal and/or professional reasons!” –Danielle Minde, 2019 President-Elect

“Attending FUEL events expanded my network around town. Now, no matter where I go, I run into a familiar face, and that makes this large community feel so much smaller and more welcoming. I love feeling like I am connecting with the community and FUEL gave me the space to create those relationships.” –Brianne Anderson, Leadership & Professional Development Co-Chair

“In my FUEL adventure I have met some awesome people, I have expanded my network skills and gained the confidence to attend any events by myself and meet new people!” –Penny Blackburn, Social Co-Chair

On Professional Development

“Being a part of FUEL Story County was a great and helpful way for me to transition from student life in Ames to adult life in Ames. I’ve met so many new and interesting people and learned a lot more about the city of Ames as a whole.” –Lainey Crawford, Community Outreach & Partnerships Co-Chair

“Connect with community leaders! As a FUEL member, I have had the opportunity to hear business owners, coaches, and other Story County leaders discuss various leadership and professional development topics (i.e. building successful teams, crucial conversations, identifying your passion, etc.).” –Amanda Moorman, Leadership & Professional Development Co-Chair

On Community Involvement

“Joining FUEL gives you the opportunity to put your skills to work for your community and make an impact on those around you.” –Rebecca Haugland, Marketing Chair

“Getting active and involved seemed like a HUGE task, FUEL helped me take it one event at a time, meeting new faces and understanding more about Ames and Story County each time we met!” -Christian Hempen, Community Outreach & Partnerships Co-Chair

On Catering Your Experience

“You can choose your level of involvement in FUEL. If all you want is a social outing every few months, you can do that. If you want to join a committee or the board and get involved in planning events, you can do that. It's up to you!” -Taylor Hopper, Past President
