Originally from Fairbank, Iowa, Alicia Wilkinson was drawn to Iowa State University to pursue a career in design. Wilkinson initially studied graphic design, but her passion for visual arts and interest in architecture eventually led her to the interior design field. Wilkinson graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Interior Design, and has been living in Ames since.
Wilkinson has only been working in Ames for six months but has been a member of the Ames community for much longer. For nearly fifteen years, she commuted from Ames to Des Moines until last June when she began working at HAILA Architecture in Ames.
“It has been so wonderful working in my field in the town that I live in. I feel even more integrated into the community now that I am working here,” said Wilkinson.
As a senior registered interior designer at HAILA, Wilkinson works with all projects that have a focus on interior design. The most rewarding part of her job is creating concepts for her clients and bringing their ideas to life. Wilkinson’s career in interior design allows her to express her passions and enjoy the creative process that comes with her work.
Now that she lives and works in Ames, Wilkinson has plans to stay long-term because of the community she found and the career she fulfills. “There is a wonderful community in Ames that I see developing more and more, and I want to continue to be a part of that.”
