Knapp Tedesco celebrated its 95th year in 2021. Knapp Tedesco is among the most established businesses in Ames & agencies in central Iowa
What is your role with the AEDC, and how long have you been involved?
Past President & current board member. I have served on the AEDC board for nearly 20 years.
What is the most interesting thing you have learned about local economic development by being involved in the AEDC?
The importance of land availability. The Prairie View Industrial Center is a terrific addition to Ames and will allow Ames & Story County to be more competitive for shovel-ready projects.
Why do you continue to be involved in local economic development? Why is this an important issue for you?
Ames continues to receive national awards and recognitions. In order to sustain that recognition and make Ames an attractive place in which to live and work, we need to continue expanding the commercial & industrial tax base as well as employment base.
What other involvements do you have in the local community/county?
I have served on nearly 20 boards in Ames and currently serve as Chair of the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau and Ames Main Street. I also serve on the board of Availa Bank and the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa.
What are your favorite pastimes/hobbies?
I enjoy travel and time with my family as well as spending time on the family farm near Carlisle.

Wife (Tami), Son (Matt - married to Deb Goodhue and our grandson Gavin), Daughter (Megan)
